ASPIRINAS / ASPIRINS

ASPIRINS

i go to the bathroom
i feel weird
i check my veins my sweeping
i feel ashamed
i turn the spigot
i put a glass by the shower
i take three aspirins
i’m the woman from the swedish movie
because no one repeats this gesture in brazil
i’m there
with aspirins by the central plumbing
no matter the color of the bathroom
everything is that forever blue-green
no matter the time
everything is a forever emptiness echoing people
images outside the bathroom event
south highway winged possums
mousetraps and a pipe on the top floor
people
i feel heavy and haunted even
so the mania is to polish the worn tread
with the sock full of ducklings
with the sock full of nothing
never the right pair and i feel puzzled
the whole bathroom window
the whole curtain and its rings
all
the rays of all the arrows in the drain
the rays every ray that will hit people
the bathroom is too mathematical for
a barely brushed idiot
i’m dreaming
i’m muttering i’m dreaming
i want to wake up embarrassed
like a kid who wet the bed
i’m not dreaming
my veins are in accord
with the tone of the note in the newspaper
WORKER AT FAMOUS LUNCHEONETTE
RUBS PENIS IN SESAME AND URINATES
IN FRYER AFTER 41-YEAR COMA
i’m the swedish woman of the aspirins
muttering to be meditating
that’s it
muttering to be meditating people
piles of people in the basket full of dirty clothes

ASPIRINAS

vou ao banheiro
me sinto estranha
verifico minhas veias minhas varrições
me sinto envergonhada
abro a torneira
meto um copo pelo aguaceiro
tomo três aspirinas
sou a mulher do filme sueco
gentes
me sinto acabrunhada ainda
assim a mania é lustrar o ponto pisado
com a meia cheia de patinhos
com a meia cheia de nada
nunca o par correto e me sinto atarantada
toda a janela do banheiro
toda a cortina com argolas
todas
estou sonhando
resmungo estou sonhando
quero acordar que nem criança mijada
envergonhada
não estou sonhando
minhas veias estão em acordo
com o tom da nota no jornal
FUNCIONÁRIA DE LANCHONETE FAMOSA
ESFREGA O PÊNIS NO GERGELIM
E URINA NA FRITADEIRA APÓS O COMA
DE 41 ANOS
sou a sueca das aspirinas
resmungo estar meditando
é isso
resmungo estar meditando gentes
pilhas de gentes no cesto de roupas sujas

PELA LÍNGUA / BY THE TONGUE

BY THE TONGUE

crying is good
it’s a cliffy communique
belching is good
because so gentle a giant passes through my throat
i could say i know belching is good
but it’s my tongue won’t allow it
and i cry
that crying is breath to go mad
and then and only then to be born to belch and disbelieve

PELA LÍNGUA

chorar faz bem
é um comunicado alcantilado
arrotar faz bem

MARLA:

prologue

tricky question of being said
the thing said not in the wind through the nostrils
incomprehensible upholstery of anguish and logorrheic desire
on seeing nostrils with gums
i explain
there’s this arm with teeth and fingers
stuck in a mouth all around
it was to type on leaves and petals and was
to spread out next to the wind to grab
little dresses by the petticoats
but then the sea
beliefs before people
people before they’re ears screaming sea devil
now here
thing embraced in affection paper and ink
and i’ve also said the sea between
one arm and another one ear and another and
all this from conversations
unified by the nail growing to little fingers dados
echoes of tongues out from the mother maw
and nobody
let alone you
will be able to say i’m not the itch in your
vocal cords

sister my sister

explico
pregas vocais

irmã minha irmã

É UM MILAGRE / IT’S A MIRACLE

IT’S A MIRACLE

it’s a miracle
i took some pictures of the streets of the people
in the streets their wigs their clothes
their decades
i started to really miss it when i took
that photograph of the woman with eggplants in her lap
i started to really miss something there
i’m afraid to go back to the photograph
of the woman with the eggplants
all of life will be that not going back
not ever to the snapshot
of the woman with eggplants on the bench by the beach
the whole image is very beautiful and full
of memories not my own
the cloud yet one little cloud alone and yet
if that photograph had a name it would be called cloudyet
i’d never go back there never alone
or unarmed
no i’d never go back
the miracle is not to go back
the woman will be
it’s a miracle
IF THE WOMAN KISSES KNEES
SQUEEZES EGGPLANTS
it’s a miracle how she knows and doesn’t do it
i don’t want to go back
there
she’ll be
don’t make me go back
this miracle is mine alone
IF THE WOMAN KISSES KNEES

a mulher estará
é um milagre
SE A MULHER BEIJA OS JOELHOS
ESPREME AS BERINJELAS
não me obrigue a voltar
esse milagre é só meu
SE A MULHER BEIJA OS JOELHOS
